About Simon Larkin

Our principal consultant Simon Larkin has over 30 years experience in the IT industry. Simon's key skills are in Relational Database design and implementation. He has worked on the design and implementation of some of the largest and most complex relational databases (and the smallest!).

Simon has worked as a freelance project manager and systems analyst for many major corporations including: ......

  • Oracle Corporation
  • Churchill Insurance
  • Computer Sciences Corporation
  • Diageo (International Distillers)

His database design philosophy could be summed up by the phrase - 'Normalize till it hurts, de-normalize till it works!'.

There is no standard solution for a database design. Every client has a different level of resources and requirements, some may need a huge fault tolerant RDBMS system, others may require a more modest system - every project is precisely tailored to the client's requirements.

Simon is currently involved in teaching database design and the SQL language, bespoke projects for clients and building the QiSQL database management application.
